COMPETITIONS FOR VOICE AND PIANO
A. Ramon Rivera Piano Competition
This competition was founded in 1990 to honor Mr. Rivera as an extraordinary and inspirational teacher. The competition reflects his uncompromisingly high standards for artistry in music and beauty of sound and is intended to encourage young pianists to continue their search for excellence.
Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition
Over $10,000 in prizes. The First Prize Winner will perform a complete concerto with the South Carolina Philharmonic in the Masterworks concert series during the season. Second and Third Prize Winners may have opportunities to perform with the SC Philharmonic or SC Philharmonic Youth Orchestra at the discretion of the SC Philharmonic Music Director. Additional prizes for best performance of a contemporary work, discretionary awards and Young Jury Award.
Arizona Inaugural Concerto Competition
The concerto Competition will be held in June in metropolitan Phoenix, AZ, at the culmination of their annual Summer Festival. API is honored to collaborate with Phoenix Youth Symphony and MusicaNova Orchestra. The awards, comprised of cash prizes, scholarships, and ample performance engagements—including invitations as guest soloists with the two distinguished orchestras.
Berliner International Music Competition
The Second Berliner International Music Competition for piano, strings, voice and winds.
The Winners’ recitals will be held on September in Berlin. Application Deadline: is June.
Bösendorfer and Yamaha USASU International Piano Competitions
The competitions are dedicated to the discovery and encouragement of young artists who possess their personal voice of interpretation in harmony with the legacy of great artists of the past. Hosted at Arizona State University.
Boulder International Chamber Music Competition
BICMC will take place October, at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder. Twenty-two duos will compete after a pre-screening round, which should be no more than 10 minutes in length. Please note that the deadline for the pre-screening round is July.
Brescia Classica International Piano Competition
will take place from the 30th of July to the 5th of August in Brescia, well known as the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli’s home town.
open to musicians (excluding keyboard) who live or study in New York, New Jersey or Pennsylvania and who will be no more than 22 years of age on May. Hosted by the Riverside Symphonia, a professional orchestra celebrating its 27th year in the Delaware Valley, the competition offers young musicians cash prizes, a performance with a professional orchestra and the chance to work with international conductor Mariusz Smolij, Music Director and Conductor of the Riverside Symphonia. Civic Morning Musicals Annual Competition for Singers
open to young singers, aged 17 – 27, to win some of the $2,700 prize money and further their careers.
Claudette Sorel Piano Competition
open to young artists ages 15-18 who are passionate about piano performance and repertoire. If selected as a finalist for the competition, participants are asked to prepare a program of no longer than 15 minutes that demonstrates an artistic vision, such as works of a specific composer, known or unknown, a thematic connection between works, an original way of presenting the music, etc. Final Round: Saturday, November.
Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition
The Cliburn invites talented pianists to apply for the Second Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival, for pianists age 13 to 17, taking place June in Dallas, Texas. The Preliminary through Semifinal Rounds and festival events will take place on the campus of SMU, where participants will also reside. The Final Round will be held at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, where the three finalists will perform full concertos with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Deadline in January.
Dallas International Piano Competition
Presented in partnership between the Dallas Chamber Symphony and Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts, the four-day event focuses on concerto and solo repertoire, and includes a series of master classes presented by SMU faculty and the competition jurors.

International Grande Music Competition

International Keyboard Odyssiad® Competition
Competition for Pianists: Solo and Concerto Divisions. Applications must be completed by midnight MDT in June.
International Piano Competition Rina Sala Gallo
an established event on the international music competition circuit, the Competition is a member of both the World Federation of International Music Competitions (Geneva) and the Alink-Argerich Foundation. With a total of €31,500 to be awarded in prize money, as well as a series of concert at prestigious venues in Italy.
International Young Artist Piano Competition
International Young Artist Piano Competition , founded in 1986 by Li-Ly Chang, is for young artists of all nationalities between the ages of 5 and 18 and ages of 19 to 28. The purpose is to promote the music of Chinese composers and further cultural exchange between peoples of the East and West
Ithaca College Piano Competition
The 39th Annual Piano Competition will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The competition will take place in the School of Music’s state-of-the-art facilities and its panel of judges will be comprised of the School of Music’s resident piano faculty. Contestants may choose to compete in the solo division, the concerto competition, or both.
Kaleidoscope Instrumental and Vocal Competition
The Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra’s Instrumental and Vocal Competition, offering $30,000 in prizes and performances with orchestra to 3 instrumentalists and 3 vocalists in their 2019-2020 season. This competition is open to performers of all ages, located anywhere in the world. Round trip airfare and housing accommodations will be covered for 12 finalists to compete in our live final round in Los Angeles on May 4th & 5th 2019.
Kaufman Music Center Competition
Open to young pianists up to age 18, the Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition awards more than $13,000 in cash prizes and gives winners the opportunity to perform in New York’s prestigious Merkin Hall. The 2019 Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition will be held from June in New York City. The Winners Showcase Concert Concert takes place in Merkin Hall in June.
Knabe Young Artist Competition
Features prestigious judges from the Peabody Institute and the University of Maryland who evaluate applicants assign points. All applicants receive comments, points, and a certificate. In addition, points from multiple years may be combined for receipt of special awards. Applicants may choose just an evaluation, or they may choose to be considered for a spot in the live final rounds.
Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Piano Competition
Established in 1949 i n honor of the hundredth anniversary of the death of Frederic Chopin.
Held annually in New York City. Preliminary Application deadline: February . Finals: March.
The MostArts Festival Piano Competition is open to High School pianists ages 13-18 as of the competition date. Applicants must not be under professional management.
Eight Finalists will be invited to Alfred University to perform the 2nd and 3rd movements of their selected Mozart Concerto with the MostArts Festival Orchestra. This concert will take place in the new Miller Theater in front of an audience and an international panel of judges.
MTNA⎯Stecher and Horowitz Two Piano Competition
This unique and innovative MTNA competition utilizes video submissions and consists of only two rounds. The mission of this competition is to sustain and advance the importance of artistic collaboration, of two piano performance.
NTD International Piano Competition
The mission of this competition is to revive the glorious music spanning the Baroque to Romantic eras, and the unique repertoire includes beloved classical pieces as well as an original commissioned work. Pianists will be judged on original style, tone color, and technique.
Nazareth University Piano Competition
Open to all young pianists between the age of 6-18 years old. Competition date: September, deadline for application: August.
Pianists compete for cash prizes and many other prestigious awards: Olga Kern Special Awards; Linda Leirfallom Brewer Award for Best Performance of Chopin; Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals; the Odyssaid Concerto Competition with a chance to perform a complete concerto with the Boulder Symphony in Boulder, Colorado.
PianoArts North American Competition
For pianists ages 16-21 of any nationality living or studying full time in North America. Over $27,000 in Cash Prizes Shared Among 10 SemifinalistsPianoArts Fellowships – Concert Engagements – Scholarship to the International Keyboard Institute and Festival, New York City.
Princeton Festival Piano Competition
The Princeton Festival Piano Competition is a virtual event. Each artist must submit a single unedited video recording of their performance with the respective application in September. The adjudicators will choose three finalists from each category to progress to the finals.
Rosewood Fanning Piano Competition
The competition will be held on June at Union College, Schenectady: Advanced Piano (3 categories- The Franchezza (under age 16), The Capriccio (16-under 30), The Brioso (Hand/arm impaired only; any age). Video recording and application deadline is February. Winner’s Recital in June at Union College Memorial Chapel.

The American Prize in Piano Performance
The American Prize in Piano Performance recognizes and rewards the best performances by classically trained pianists in America, based on submitted applications. There are separate categories for solo piano and for piano concerto performance. Pianists performing with others may also apply for The American Prize in Chamber Music Performance.
Thousand Islands International Piano Competition
provide a venue for exceptional young pianists who perform and share their music in the nurturing and confidence-building atmosphere provided in this St. Lawrence community. In return, these budding young artists bring the joy of live classical music to the Thousand Islands. Each year a special bond is created between community residents and performers. The competition takes place in September.
United States Classical International Piano Competition
presented by The Virtuoso Artists Foundation of North America is open to receive the application currently. There is no live performance round in this competition and the jury will give the final result by video/audio the contestants submit and multiple winners will be chosen for each category. The certificates for winner and outstanding instructor will be gained by mailing or directly in the grand winners concert taken place in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. www.virtuosocompetition.com. Vienna International Music Competition
The “Vienna International Music Competition” has been designed to promote musicians of all ages and disciplines who possess outstanding artistic personality, by offering them a debut recital at Vienna Konzerthaus, together with a cash prize, a video recording and international management.

West Virginia International Piano Competition and Festival

AmiCaFest
2-week opportunity (from the 13th to the 26th of June, 2018) for outstanding piano students who will experience an extensive exploration of piano repertoire under the guidance of an internationally renowned faculty. AmiCaFest takes place in a full-Sicilian-immersion environment, from the lodging and the typical Sicilian hospitality to the authenticity of worldwide-loved food.
Arizona Piano Institute Annual Summer Festival
A premier program in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona—one unique to the Southwest. Our one-week enrichment program in the first full week of June is designed for collegiate and preparatory piano students of all ages. The minimum repertoire standard is an intermediate level, equivalent to Arizona Study Program, level 5 (i.e., early Clementi sonatinas).
This festival is free for students who are invited to participate. Open to students 18 and older, and to exceptionally talented students who are 15 to 17 years of age.
The festival takes place in Weyer, Austria (a small city located outside Vienna) in July every year. Students ages between 15 – 18 years of age; faculty includes internationally renowned musicians from the Vienna State Opera, Vienna Philharmonic, and Vienna Symphony. Students who study in the areas of voice, violin, viola, cello, and piano are eligible to apply.

SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music will host the inaugural Crane International Piano Festival in the summer of 2019! The festival—a seven-day event for young pianists from 13 to 18 years old—will offer intensive training opportunities with renowned faculty members from The Crane School of Music and other guest artists. This year’s guest artists will come from The Juilliard School and Palm Beach Atlantic University. The festival features one week of concerts, masterclasses, private lessons and workshops for talented young pianists, all on SUNY Potsdam’s beautiful campus in the foothills of the Adirondacks.
International Music Festival of the Adriatic (IMFA)
A summer chamber music festival for talented young composers, pianists, singers, and string players who are looking for an intense, rewarding, and unique summer festival experience. Open to students from any educational institution, as well as young professionals, the program is designed for musicians ages 18 and up.
A 3-week intensive summer camp for classical pianists and string players ages 9-18. Intermediate and advanced level musicians are immersed in a supportive, conservatory-style environment; focusing on the study of solo and chamber music repertoire; and sharing their performances with the surrounding community. Students have the option to live on or off-campus.
