The Newsletter of the New York State Music Teachers Association is
published three times a year, in the late fall, mid-spring and summer. It is primarily an
online publication, sent to the entire membership. (The exception is the annual
Conference issue, which is printed and mailed.) The NYSMTA emailing list is
based upon contact information provided by means of MTNA registration/annual renewal. The Newsletter features pertinent information
concerning the organization's activities, including a President’s letter, calls
for submissions and participation in NYSMTA-sponsored opportunities, news of
recent events involving members and their students, along with reviews of new
music publications and various articles addressing issues relevant to music
teachers.
Our most recent newsletter, August 2010, can be found here
All members are encouraged to
recommend items for inclusion in the newsletter. Any questions or submissions
can be sent to the NYSMTA Newsletter Chair. Members
of the NYSMTA Executive Board are occasionally asked to submit for publication
an article of interest related to their specific area.
Arts and education organizations and individuals may
contract with NYSMTA to advertise their activities, events or services in the
Newsletter. For schedule, rate and policy information, please contact the
NYSMTA Chair for Publicity and Advertising.
Any
NYSMTA member who wishes to receive printed copies of the Newsletters, as well
as the annual Membership Directory, will need to contact Kathryn Koscho to
confirm that preference. (Kathryn Koscho, The Crane School of Music, 44
Pierrepont Ave., Potsdam, NY 13676, koschokd@potsdam.edu)
Please note: Because most correspondence
will be electronic, it is especially important that all NYSMTA members keep
their current email addresses up-to-date with the MTNA national office ,
as well as with the NYSMTA Vice-President of Membership. Please report
any change to these offices as soon as possible.
