THE HEDDY KILIAN COMPETITION

The Heddy Kilian Competition in Piano and Voice is an annual event offered by the New York State Music Teachers Association. It was established by the family of a devoted and respected musician from the Syracuse area to honor her work, and continues to be generously supported by her children. High school students in grades 10 through 12 are eligible to compete. Winners of the Competition are awarded a cash prize. First Place recipients are invited as well to perform on the Winners Recital held during the annual NYSMTA Conference. In the event the First Place winner is unable to participate on the Conference recital, the Honorable Mention recipient is invited. This competitive opportunity is a valuable one for our piano and voice students, providing them with an additional incentive for achievement and recognition as they conclude their year’s work.
