Grants for Local Associations
State: NYSMTA
offers grants to local associations for the development of special
programs such as masterclasses, workshops/recitals, and projects which
may be co-funded with other accredited music organizations. For
additional information and an application, contact the President-Elect.
National: The
MTNA FOUNDATION awards grants to MTNA-affiliated local associations for
projects that provide educational opportunities for students and
teachers. Grants are also given for projects that support the promotion
of music in the immediate community. Matching
grants are available for established associations. Start-up grants are
available for associations in the process of being formed. For

Grants for Individuals
State: The Elfriede Chapin Grant has been established to annually award a monetary grant to one NYSMTA
member. The recipient will use the grant to work on a special project
that will benefit member-teachers. The project must be used to
establish new research developed during the grant. When the study is
completed, the recipient must present his/her findings in a published
article in the NYSMTA Newsletter or in an issue of the AMT, or through
a presentation at a state or MTNA national conference. For additional

National: The MTNA Teacher Enrichment Grants provide up to $1200 to individuals for professional development through
private study, collegiate course work, and special projects. For

The Piano Technicians Guild Award (PTG)
is available to any person who has earned and maintained MTNA
Professional Certification. The annual $750 award affords Nationally
Certified Teachers of Music (NCTM) the opportunity for advanced studies
in piano and for Recreational Music Making training. For complete
