Empire High School and Junior High competitions

Unlike the MTNA competitions, the winners of which proceed to the Division and the National levels, the Empire is a one-stage event. It is to take place this year on Friday and Saturday, October 15 and 16, 2010 at the State Conference.  This year’s Conference is to be held at the College of Saint Rose in Albany. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners. As well, the winners of the Empire State Competition are invited to perform on the Winners Recital at the Conference, on Saturday, October 16.  We hope you will consider this valuable event for your advanced students. The level of accomplishment presented by contestants and winners of past years has been consistently high and unfailingly competitive.

Please feel free to pass along this file to colleagues of yours who may not be NYSMTA members. Teacher membership is not required for participation in this event. The Empire Competition has continued to grow during its decade of existence. This year marks its eleventh anniversary. It has been an effective means of making more musicians throughout the state aware of the benefits of NYSMTA membership. New this year is the Junior High School level, now opening up this terrific opportunity to our younger students.
