NYSMTA was founded in 1961 in order to promote the
growth and professional development of its members. Throughout its
existence, NYS members have been featured presenters at state and
national conferences. In addition, NYS boasts multiple winners at the
MTNA national competitions. We hope you will consider joining us! For
complete information on becoming a member of NYSMTA and MTNA, email our V-P of Membership.
If you have already decided to join, you can do that at the MTNA (national) site.
NYSMTA offers multiple benefits to its members. The annual NYSMTA State Conference incorporates presentations and workshops covering a wide range of
issues pertaining to the music profession. In addition, performances by
the winners of the MTNA, Empire State and Kilian Competitions, as well
as the premiere of the NYS Commissioned Work are featured. For complete
information on this year's conference, click here.
The NYSMTA Newsletter is
published three times per year. Issues include reviews of new music
publications and columns addressing professional issues facing music
teachers.
In addition to hosting the statewide MTNA competitions, NYSMTA sponsors the Empire State and Kilian Competitions on an annual basis. These two events offer high school and collegiate
students opportunities to showcase their talents and receive valuable
critique, as well as compete for cash awards. For complete information
on the Empire State and Kilian Competitions, click here. | |
